Matthijs van der Wild - Quantum gravitational corrections from the Wheeler-DeWitt equation for scalar-tensor theories
Student seminar on Wednesday, January 24th 2018
Abstract: The Wheeler-DeWitt equation is the central object in canonical quantum gravity. It has been used to investigate the semiclassical behaviour of the quantum state of the universe. In this talk, we extend the quantum geometrodynamical formalism to a general scalar-tensor theory, and focus on the semi-classical expansion of the Wheeler-DeWitt equation. We derive the first quantum gravitational corrections and investigate how they are affected by a non-minimal coupling.
