Keith Hamilton - MiNLO: Multiscale Improved NLO
RTG Seminar on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018
Abstract: In this talk we overview the MiNLO method, which improves precise next-to-leading order [NLO] predictions for LHC collision processes involving jets in the final-state; augmenting them with higher order radiative corrections, of the kind which parton shower simulations sum to all orders. These enhancements improve and extend the reach of NLO calculations into regions where conventional fixed order perturbation theory is known to fail. Like regular NLO calculations MiNLO ones can be embedded in fully-fledged parton shower simulation frameworks, via established methods such as Powheg or MC@NLO, leading to particularly powerful tools for LHC analyses.
