Marzani, Simone - Dissecting Jets
RTG Seminar talk on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018
Jets, i.e. collimated sprays of particles, are ubiquitous in particle phenomenology. I discuss recent developments in our understanding of the structure of high-p_T jets, showing how QCD calculations can guide the construction of jet substructure algorithms which are at the same time efficient and robust. In particular, I discuss two observables that have been recently receiving theoretical and experimental attention: the soft-drop jet mass and the subjets’ momentum sharing, which can both be used to probe QCD radiation in proton-proton and heavy ion collisions.
