Guiseppe Degrassi - Vacuum Instability and the scale of New Physics
RTG-Seminar on Wednesday, January 27th, 2015
Since the late seventies the analysis of the Standard Model (SM) scalar potential has been one of the main argument in the discussion for the need of New Physics. In this talk I will discuss the implications of the discovery of a Higgs boson with mass around 125 GeV for the extrapolation of the SM up to Planck scale and the role played by the top quark mass in the discrimination between the full stability and the metastability conditions of the Electroweak vacuum.
